Harry Bentley is hoping his victory aboard Simple Verse in the Lillie Langtry Stakes will help to raise his profile.
Simple Verse was carrying the second colours of Qatar Racing, who are sponsoring the Glorious Goodwood meeting, in the Group 3 contest as Bentley’s filly stayed on well to beat Hidden Gold.
Bentley was delighted to get a second winner of the week on the board after scoring for Richard Hannon on Inland Sea on Tuesday.
“It’s very special,” Bentley told Racing UK. “It was a massive thing at the beginning of the week to get a Glorious winner and now I’ve had two, so it’s fantastic.”
Bentley is approaching 30 winners for the season and he boasts the best strike-rate of any Flat jockey to have ridden more than 20 winners this year.
He is happy with the progress he is making and is now hoping to be in a position to pick up more rides.
“Things are going really, really great,” said Bentley. “My strike rate is very good, I’m very pleased with it, and the more rides I get the better.
“I’m slightly down on rides compared to a lot of people, but I’m banging in the winners, so I hope people take note.
“Glorious Goodwood is what it is. It’s one of the best meetings of the year and to get a good winner for the people I’ve just ridden for – Qatar, who sponsor the whole show – it’s fantastic.”
