Anyone who saw it remembers Fondmort’s incredible leap at the last fence in the Tripleprint Gold Cup at Cheltenham on 14 December 2002, when he soared over that final obstacle so well you could have driven the proverbial bus across the top of the fence and still not brushed his undersides, but there was far more to him than that.
