Ben`s Tips for Saturday.

Ben Morgan

Please note No fancies for today 2nd !!!

Saturday’s Haydock card looks a good one and it stages two of my favourite races. The 2.05 handicap always tends to throw up a smart, improving handicapper and I think they’re might be one or two lurking in there again. The favourite looks an obvious type but at the current prices I’d be inclined to find one at a better price.

I was pretty sweet on the KONDO ISAMI at Royal Ascot but he blew his chance early on as he was tardy coming out of the stalls. He could never lay a glove from there on in but he should be seen in a much better light here. His earlier form looks strong with the re-opposing Tashkan also having a chance today. Mark Johnston is normally the man to follow in similar races so the selection really does tick a lot of boxes.

The Old Newton Cup has long been one of the more competitive middle distance handicaps of the year and this year looks no different. Tim Easterby looks to have laid out DARK JEDI for this assignment with him having just the one run this season, 7 days ago at Windsor. It’s a quick turn around but I think that might just have sharpened him up ready for this race today. His form last season certainly gives him a good chance tomorrow and having suffered some near misses last year, you certainly wouldn’t begrudge him a victory.

Haydock 2.05 – Kondo Isami

Haydock 3.15 – Dark Jedi
