Cox eyes Commonwealth Cup glory for Golden Horde

is targeting glory at Royal this summer for Golden Horde.

After winning the Richmond Stakes last year, Golden Horde then finished third behind Earthlight and Raffle Prize in the Prix Morny in France and followed that performance up with second to Earthlight again in the Middle Park Stakes at , this time beaten by just a neck.

Cox says sticking with the six-furlongs distance is wise and the Commonwealth Cup is a realistic aim for Golden Horde, if gets the green light to be staged as planned in June.

Cox said on Sky Sports: “I think I'm more inclined to be concentrating on six furlongs at the moment. He's an absolute joy to deal with, he's very strong and mature and has done especially well over the .

“It was far wetter than ideal for him in France, it was very testing ground and although he coped with it, he improved for better ground.

Meanwhile, Cox admits he's having to play a waiting game at the moment as everyone associated with the horse industry hopes meetings can resume as soon as possible.
