South Seas primed for Dewhurst Stakes

Trainer has confirmed that the unbeaten South Seas is on course to run in the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes next month.

The two-year-old has never lost a competitive race since securing a victory on his competitive debut at in June, with his latest success coming in the TCA Abu Dhabi Solario Stakes at last month.

The chestnut colt now looks set to face the toughest test of his fledgling career in the Dewhurst Stakes at on October 8, with Balding confirming that the horse has had a quiet summer in preparation for the Group One race.

?The Dubai Dewhurst Stakes is very much the target for South Seas, that was the plan for him when I last spoke to his owner, Sheikh Fahad Al Thani,” Balding said. “He has intentionally had a quietish time since the Solario and I am very happy with him.”

Balding believes the Irish horse is well equipped to make the step up in class for next month's race and he has described the colt as high class horse.

He added: “He is a high class horse with a good cruising speed and, although the Dewhurst will be a lot tougher, he has three runs under his belt now so is well equipped to try his hand against the very best opposition.”
