Racing Ahead’s resident tipster Ben Morgan selects his best bets for Saturday’s action at Newbury.
Newbury 2.35 – Teal stable star looks overpriced
Last year’s second place in the Lockinge, DANCING GEMINI, looks well over priced here at 40/1 and should be backed each way.
He started last season as one of the best Milers in the country and consequently went off 2/1 fav for this race 12 months ago only to be denied by Lead Artist.
His season had ups and downs after that but there were still performances in there to suggest he was a top horse in this division.
His return this year at Sandown is probably best ignored as it just wasn’t his running and I can sense he will be tuned up for this.
The way the race is going to be run should suit this strong stayer also as the Ballydoyle pacemaker should ensure a good gallop.
At 40/1 I can’t let him go unbacked.

Newbury 3.45 – Hannon improver to be crowned King?
The London Gold Cup is one of the more informative handicaps of the year as most of these end up going on to be top middle distance horses later in the Summer.
This year I wouldn’t be too sure who is going to progress the most to land this but I did think SAHARA KING looked a bit big at 7/1.
In his three runs so far he would have learnt plenty as he has been ridden to do just that and that educational experience should stand him in good stead here on handicap debut.
A mark of 95 doesn’t look insurmountable given the form he has shown and his trainer certainly knows how to ready one for this race.
Newbury 4.20 – Cowell to work his magic again
Sprint King, Robert Cowell, could be set to work the oracle again as PUROSANGUE looks primed to run a big race here.
Having been well backed a few times last season in various Sprint handicaps when under the care of Andrew Balding, he never really justified that support, finding ways to get beat at times.
A move to Cowell over the Winter might just unlock that little bit extra as to what is needed in order to get his head in front.
An eye catching run at Pontefract over 5f on his stable debut should put him spot on for this race over 6f and providing luck in running he rates my best bet for this Saturday’s action.
