There are five more ITV races to look forward to on Town Moor, that includes the Group Two Doncaster Cup and Flying Childers Stakes. 

With the Gosden yard having won four of the last seven runnings of the Doncaster Cup, then their French Master will be trying to carry on this good record.

So, let’s get going with the day two Doncaster horse racing tips on Friday.

Andy Newton’s ITV Doncaster Horse Racing Tips On Friday

 

 

1:15 DONCASTER Betfred Flying Scotsman Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (2yo) 7f ITV

NABATI has created a good impression on his first three starts – winning two – and heads here as the top-rated and one to beat.

The last of those wins came at Newmarket, albeit by just a head, but has looked the sort to improve again now upped to 7f.

He’s also been handed a good draw in 4 if the past stats are anything to go by – with 14 of the last 16 winners hailing from gates 5 or lower.

Add in the good form of the Charlie Appleby yard at the moment and their 32% SR with their 2yolds here, then there’s a lot to like.

Of the others, the other Godolphin runner Rock Montreal, who cost them 1m GNS, won well on debut at Yarmouth and is noted too.

While the more experienced pair of Dandyman Dan and Kach Above have already hit a fair level and shouldn’t be far away.

1:50 DONCASTER Betfred Leger Legends Classified Stakes Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 1m ITV

Some old faces on show here and really not a race to be getting too involved in – as we don’t know how fit some of these old riders are.

Plus, it’s stacked of similar rated horses – all running off a rating of 70.

But if you want to have an interest, then why not side with the big-priced LITTLE MISS INDIA (e/w). 

Why? Well, this James Owen runner will be steered by Gary ‘The Angry Ant’ Bardwell, who has ridden the winner in this Leger Legends twice since 2021.

These two wins included a success 12 months ago with a 40/1 shot and his mount this year has been freshened up with 140 days off.

She was last seen running 5th here at Donny too so that track experience is a plus – while the James Owen yard have a fair 19% SR with their runners at this venue.

Of the rest, Celtic Chariot (Adrian Nicholls) and Bella Bisbee, with Tom Scudamore (won this in 2023) are the only two course winners in the field, so command respect on that.

Plus, jockey Sammy Jo Bell is another rider that’s done well in this event – winning the pot THREE times since 2019.

She rides Anthropologist for trainer Michael Herrington.

2:25 DONCASTER Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (2yo) 5f ITV

FLANN SUNNA is given another chance after fluffing his lines in the G2 Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time.

He mounted in the chute that day, then took a bit of a hold and as a result was only 5th (of 10) – beaten at Evs.

But before that run was impressive in winning at Ascot by 4 3/4 lengths, whole his breeding suggest a small bit of cut will be okay.

Yes, the Crisford yard have been a tad quiet in recent weeks, but still have a cracking 43% SR with their 2yolds here on Town Moor.

William Buick, who was on last time, keeps the ride and stall 2 looks fine with 16 of the last 22 coming from 7 or lower.

Molecomb winner Pershaada is noted too, but the Hannon team are another that have been a bit slow recently.

While the Kevin Philippart de Foy yard also do okay here with their juveniles and so their Crownbreaker, who has already shown a fair level of form, can go well too.

As can recent York Listed winner Sale Shark for Hugo Palmer and Oisin Murphy.

3:00 DONCASTER Betfred Howard Wright Doncaster Cup Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 2m2f ITV

Probably one of the worst renewals of the Doncaster Cup in recent times, so you feel connections of the 115-rated CABALLO DE MAR will be very gutted if they can’t land this £93k prize.

He does have to give 16lbs away to the unexposed 3yold Winday, from the Emmet Mullins yard who is rated 97 – but should really still have the class to take this.

We’ve also only seen two winning 3yolds land the Donny Cup since 2002, so a bit more experience has often won the day here.

Caballo De Mar was last seen running 4th in the Lonsdale Cup at York and before that clearly didn’t stay the 2m4f Ascot Gold Cup trip on faster ground.

Any rain will be a plus – as don’t forget he’s a G1 winner in France on soft. Oisin Murphy rides and despite having some flaws, this George Scott stayer looks the safest option to give the rider his first success in this race.

Queenstown looks the main threat to the pick for the powerful Aidan O’Brien yard. But unlike a lot of these cup races, they’ve only won this twice in the past.

With the last coming back in 2008 with Honolulu. Their entry this year does, however, come here in winning form after landing a G3 at the Curragh last month.

3:35 DONCASTER British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Cl2 (3yo+ 0-100) 1m4f ITV

RUBY WEDDING can have her big day here after impressing last time at Salisbury over this trip.

This Andrew Balding runner is up 5lbs for that win, which looks more than fair seeing as she got home by 2 1/2 lengths.

The second Gloryous has won since too and she also had another runner here Green Sky back in 4th.

Of the rest, the Ralph Beckett yard have a good record in this race too – winning 2 of the last 3, so their Nochebuena is respected too and is a proven CD winner.

While William Haggas has done well in this race too with wins in 2017 and 2021 – he runs the most likely favourite Silver Lake, who is on a four-timer.
