Donnacha has a Nassau Fancy for Blue

Donnacha O'Brien believes success could be in the offing with Fancy Blue primed for 's Nassau Stakes.

The winner of his trainer's first as a handler, the Prix de Diane at Chantilly, she won twice as a juvenile last year and, after switching from Donnacha's father Aidan, finished second in the Irish 1,000 Guineas on his reappearance in June.

Magic Wand is also a contender for O'Brien senior but Donnacha is adamant his charge will not be giving anything away.

“Fancy Blue is very genuine, tries hard and takes her work well. She's a very uncomplicated and talented filly who relaxes and is able to quicken,” he is quoted as saying by the Post.

“She gets a mile and a quarter very well and is closely related to High Chaparral, so there's plenty of stamina in her pedigree and she will probably get a mile and a half in time.

“I think she can probably be competitive in Group 1s anywhere from a mile to a mile and a half.”
