Ellison wants quick York outing

Trainer Brian Ellison is hoping Seamour gets a “proper gallop” in the Betfred at on August 26.

Seamour lined up in the prestigious race last summer but, under the guidance of jockey Ben Curtis, he could only finish fifth after failing to keep pace with winner Heartbreak City.

The six-year-old recorded back-to-back runner-up finishes after the meeting at York whilst the most recent outing ended with a disappointing 12th place at in the Handicap.

Ellison was unhappy with the pace of the race up north and he is keeping his fingers crossed his charge is involved in a quicker outing on the Knavesmire next month.

“There was no pace at Newcastle and it turned in to a messy race, it didn't suit him at all,” said the Malton handler. “He needs a proper gallop to run at, whenever he's run well there's always been plenty of pace.

“Also, he was midfield and I'm not sure he enjoyed being around all the other . The horses that dominated the finish were up there throughout so he had no chance really.

“We'll go to the Ebor now and hope for a strongly run race.”
