Swiss Storm to swerve Royal Ascot

Trainer David Elsworth is erring on the side of caution and will not run Swiss Storm at Royal next week.

The three-year-old had been talked up as a potential contender, as he won on just his second start at last September.

However, the bay colt struggled on his only appearance to date this year, finishing a disappointing ninth in last month's Betfred at , and Elsworth has now confirmed the son of will swerve due to minor injury issue.

“He won't be going to Royal Ascot. He's had a small issue that has put him back a month,” Elsworth said.

Elsworth is yet to confirm what Swiss Storm's next race target will be, preferring to err on the side of caution as he bids to get the Godolphin & Lordship Stud back up to full fitness.

The trainer added: “He's OK and we're just erring on the side of caution.”
