Codd expecting response from On The Fringe

Jockey Joe Codd is confident that On The Fringe will be back to his best when he competes in the Randox Health Foxhunters' Chase.

The 12-year-old will bid to win the race for the third successive year next , just weeks after a disappointing ride at the .

He finished fourth in the Cheltenham Foxhunter Chase, with Pacha Du Polder eventually claiming the victory.

After a short break, the Enda Bolger-trained gelding is looking in fine form, according to Codd, and he is now relishing next month's test.

He told the Irish Herald: “I was speaking with Enda (on morning) and he's very happy with the horse so it is all go for and hopefully the big fences will light him up again and he'll put in a good performance.

“On another day (at Cheltenham) little things could have went a bit better for On The Fringe, but I still think he has a great chance going back to Aintree.

“I was lucky to get the call up when Nina (Carberry) couldn't ride him at Aintree last year and it was a great day – everything about it.

“Every amateur wants to win an Aintree Foxhunters'. It is something special over the fences and on a legend of a horse like him.”
