Andy Newton says there’s more than just prestige when it comes to the Coral Eclipse – there’s a place in folklore too

Top Group One action in the shape of the Coral-Eclipse this month too, as the three year olds are able to take on the older horses.
Run over a trip of 1m2f, the big Sandown race will be staged on Saturday July 8 this year – a tad later than normal.
It’s one of the mid-season flat highlights that carries a purse of just under £800k with the winner banking just shy of £450k.
Being first run back in 1886 the race is also steeped in history and it’s another long-standing sponsor...
