A terrific Novices’ Hurdle to open the card at Newcastle with last time out winners Zip Top and Fascino Rustico (1.50) in opposition and marginal preference goes to the latter who wore a hood and a tongue-tie on his first start for Dan Skelton when bolting up at Bangor.

Trust Thomas tipped to go one better at Ayr

Today’s BetVictor sponsored card from Ayr survived an 8am inspection. There is a cracking handicap chase over the minimum trip to open the card and Trust Thomas (12.40) can go one better than when runner up at Newcastle last time from a 3lb lower mark.

John Ferguson’s dual-purpose animal made a winning debut over timber last term before disappointing thereafter, albeit in much higher grade.
