The curtain was brought down on the flat season just ten days ago at Doncaster’s November Handicap meeting and the South Yorkshire track have wasted little time preparing for the start of the NH season, starting with a seven-race card this afternoon.

Musselburgh present first jumps card of the season

The first jumps card of the season at Musselburgh will be run on good ground this afternoon although showers are forecast. Roserrow is likely to be a warm order for the Novices’ Hurdle having won at Sedgefield last time for Donald McCain but he must give 7lbs to hurdling debutant Crinkle Crags and Narcissist (1.30) with the latter getting the vote for Mick Easterby whose string are in such good form.

Soft Ground Forecast For Newbury’s Final Two-Day Flat Meeting

Newbury’s last two-day flat meeting of the season is forecast to be run on soft ground this afternoon and in the opening division of the Mile Maiden those with experience look beatable and a chance is taken on Director (2.10) a £100,000 yearling who holds an entry in next year’s Derby for William Haggas and Highclere.
