Racing Ahead

Welcome to Racing Ahead – June 2026 Edition

The sun’s coming out and the heat is rising as we prepare this simmering summer issue.

What could be better, or more appropriate, as the scorching Flat action comes to the boil at Epsom, Ascot and around the country.

We had the beaming delight of Guineas superstars Billy Loughnane and George Osborne as the wonderful Bow Echo resoundingly triumphed in the Newmarket Classic.

Now, even with the inevitable scratchings, injuries and yard juggling, we’re in for a feast of summer track action, more celebration, joy and big, big winners.

These are tough days for so many and racing faces difficult off-course battles. But in the words of disco favourite Billy Ocean, ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going’ = none more so than young Billy Loughnane, Yorkshire trainer Ruth Carr – interviewed for this issue by Nick Townsend – or Ed Walker, visited in his rapidly expanding stables by Scout in the South Richard Eagle.

Tough times, but there is loads happening and we do our best in Racing Ahead to keep you right up to speed with it. Be lucky!
