My headline punt in the month of May is James Fanshawe’s improving 3yo who certainly looked one to follow on his Newbury return.
He went into my notebook on debut at Yarmouth last year when running a race full of promise behind a smart one of Godolphin.
He then went to Ascot and was perhaps a shade unlucky not to win the way the race panned out before finally shedding his maiden tag back at Yarmouth.
In his final start as a 2yo he was beaten by a positional bias but still ran with plenty of credit.
