Readers of the Racing Ahead mag won’t be surprised to see me putting up PASSING WELL today at Lingfield. Jamie Snowden’s novice chaser put in a sound performance at Ascot last time out on what was his chase debut. It was a hot race and it was only the pace of Sir Pyscho that did for him late on but it was still a highly promising effort from a scopey individual like him. The handicapper was very kind and left him unchanged on 122 which I think is very generous and I expect him to show just how much better he is than that mark today.
Down at Taunton, Matterhorn looks to back up his impressive course victory here last time out but I think he will have a job to give 12lbs to GO TO WAR. He unseated on hurdle debut at Exeter when looking to be involved in the finish and has had a break since then but I think he showed me enough in that run and his bumper form previously to suggest he will certainly give the hot favourite plenty to think about today.
