Bens Tips for Friday & Saturday

I'll be an eagle eyed viewer at today trying to pick up an angle ready for tomorrow's high quality action.

There is one that I think is overpriced today though and that is ESPOIR DE ROMAY for the bang in from Kim Bailey yard. A once classy novice hurdler he threatened to go all the way up the rankings but for whatever reason he has not quite got there. However he has still shown enough ability to suggest he could do some damage in a race of this nature. I don't think this race is as strong as some may think it is and a recent blow out at would have put this lad spot on. At 40/1 he looks a sound each way bet.

Newbury 3.35 – Espoir De Romay

Saturday

It's a really good day of tomorrow and I'm more than hopeful we can turnover some profit. First up up at is CHOOSE A COPPER who steps up in trip after a cosy enough success over 2 miles at Newcastle. The bare form of that race is not much but I think the step up in trip will bring about plenty of improvement from this lad. Some of his rivals are coming down in trip but I'd much rather to be on one who is stepping up for the first time especially when stamina is a near certainty. I'm hoping he opens a decent price.

I'm not sure anything can beat Constitution Hill but I am sure YOU WEAR IT WELL shouldn't be 16/1 here. Jamie Snowden's mare is clearly high class and I'm really excited about her this season. Her main rival is the returning Love Envoi who doesn't have the benefit of a run like the selection and the fact this race is over 2 miles is more likely to suit the younger mare too. I expect her to improve past Love Envoi this season anyway but I hope she can prove me right sooner rather than later.

In the big one itself down at Newbury I would be keen on GA LAW but it looks like he is off up to Newcastle so I'm going to switch allegiances to COMPETE UNKNOWN. showed last weekend that he is about to kick into some serious form and with this race being the target for quite some time I think he must have a serious chance of winning this. His profile is one of a potentially winner of this race and his bold jumping and high cruising speed will certainly suit this track. I don't think he needs soft ground which has trainer has stated he might so the drying ground is of no concern to me. I believe he has been doing some work with Hermes Allen so it might be a good idea to see how he gets on before deciding stakes etc. At 7/1 he looks a good bet as there aren't many that possess as much scope as he does.

Newcastle 12.45 – Choose A Copper

Newcastle 1.55 – You Wear It Well

Newbury 2.50 – Complete Unknown / Ga Law
