The management of Ayr Racecourse has announced that Virgin Bet will continue to sponsor the Ayr Gold Cup for a third consecutive year.
The Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup is a sprint handicap race that saw victories by Summerghand and Bielsa in 2022. The race currently holds a value of £180,000.
The increased prize money for the main event is expected to enhance competition among participants, making it even more thrilling.
Ayr Racecourse stands as the exclusive venue in Great Britain for hosting the Gold Cup, Silver Cup, and Bronze Cup. This unique setup allows horses that did not qualify for the main event to still compete on the same course and distance.
The first day of the three-day Festival, commencing on Thursday, September 21, will feature the Virgin Bet Kilkerran Cup. Last year, Joanna Mason claimed victory in this race riding Yorkshire Lady, trained by Mick and David Easterby.
On Friday, the Virgin Bet Bronze Cup will take center stage as the main event for Ladies' Day. Additionally, the sports betting company will sponsor three crucial supporting races on Gold Cup Day, which falls on September 23.
