I tipped LUCID DREAMER this time last week at Ascot but soft ground meant she was a late withdrawal. I thought it was interesting that Roger Charlton was going to run her in a handicap given she has been so well touted in her career to date. Her opening mark certainly looks lenient if she bounces back to her two year old form. There is hope that she will despite a poor run at Newbury last time out which was too bad to be true so can be easily forgiven. William Buick is an interesting jockey booking and further enhances her claims today.

It looks a competitive Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle tomorrow and there aren't many without a chance but to me eye one horse stands out from the field. DILIGENT HARRY is in receipt of the 3 year old weight allowance which looks more than enough to swing this race his way. Clive Cox is a master handler with these sprinters and it looks more than possible that he has unearthed another star. He is believed to be just as talented on the turf but the fact he has such strong form on the all weather makes him a confident bet today.
The feature race of the day looks one of the classiest renewals yet and Trueshan's inclusion makes this a very different race. It's worth remembering it is still a handicap and those towards the bottom of the weights will be fancying their chances. I thought SIR CHAUVELIN was a mad price considering his strong Newcastle form. Yes you will have to take a chance that he is fully tuned up but Jim Goldie is a shrewd man and I wouldn't be surprised if he has saved him for this race. He finished third in 2018's renewal and has more than enough class to feature again this year. At the prices I'll certainly be taking a chance on him.
Down at Chester the 5.05 looks very competitive despite the lack of runners. I think SPEEDO BOY is the standout horse in the race and his recent form suggests his turn isn't too far away. He won't mind any rain that falls between now and then and a repeat of his Chester Vase run would see him go very close here.
