Ben Morgan’s York Ebor Festival 2026 tips – Day 3 – Jim Goldie’s American Affair to continue in Nunthorpe

Ben Morgan has picked out his horses to follow on day three of the 2026 York Ebor Festival, including American Affair to land the Nunthorpe after his King George revival.

Racing Ahead’s resident tipster Ben Morgan selects his best bets for Day 3 of the 2026 York Ebor Festival action.

York 1.50 – Murphy eye-catching booking on Dunlop improver

The soft ground should pose no problems to Ed Dunlop’s BEARISH who has been improving nicely in lower grade events.

A strong staying performance at Ayr last time showed his well being and positive attitude.

A low draw and Oisin Murphy in the saddle are two further positives here and I can see him going very well here.

York 3.35 – American to continue love Affair with Knavesmire

The Nunthorpe looks wide open this year and the soft ground is certainly going to be play a part in who is going to come out on top.

The only horse who I am quite confident on going on the ground is AMERICAN AFFAIR who bounced back to his best last time out at Goodwood in the King George.

Jim Goldie is happy that he has his stable star back to his sparkling best after spending 12 months a level below his usual form.

A low draw should be very helpful and I can see him getting a nice tow into the race before outstaying his rivals late on.

One at a bigger price I have earmarked for this race is REDORANGE who has been done no favours with draw or ground but I was very impressed with his win here last time and if the ground evens out the draw bias then I can see him going well at a big price.

York 4.10 – Buick to make handicapper Explode

Leaving EXPLODE unchanged on a mark of 85  after a dominant, impressive Newbury win is a brave move from the handicapper and one that I think they could love to regret.

He had the run of the race but the way he powered away late on was quite impressive and the fact Faye Bramley has enlisted William Buick for the ride suggests she thinks there could be more to come again.

At 14/1 he looks a good each way play here.
