Newmarket Horse Racing Tips for Friday 10th July 2026: It Could Be a Favourites Day at HQ

13:50 NEWMARKET (JULY) Oddschecker Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (GBBplus Race) Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m2f ITV

Only six runners go to post, but it’s a competitive little contest and you can make a case for every one of them.

Princling is likely to head the market for William Haggas after finishing a two-and-a-half-length fifth in the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Plenty will argue he was a touch unlucky that day too. He finished strongly and appeared to take a slight bump in the closing stages.

For me, though, he still had enough time to get past and simply didn’t quite have the pace to do it.

The stats aren’t exactly in his favour either, with just three winning favourites in the last 19 renewals, so I’m happy to look elsewhere.

Decade Of Time arrives seeking a hat-trick and goes handicapping for the first time. He had Heraldry back in second at Windsor two starts ago, so there’s already form tying the pair together.

The key difference is that HERALDRY was conceding 7lb that day, was beaten only a length and a quarter, and is now 10lb better off.

He’s another making his handicap debut and I think he can reverse the form, especially with William Buick, who has won two of the last four renewals, taking the ride.

🥇 HERALDRY
🥈 DECADE OF TIME
🥉 PRINCLING

14:25 NEWMARKET (JULY) Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (Sponsored By bet365) (Group 2) (Fillies) Cl1 (2yo) 6f ITV

There’s no shortage of promising fillies lining up, including Queen Mary Stakes runner-up Senorita Bonita, with Oisin Murphy in the saddle.

Alwaysanangel, Ruby Moon and Etonnante all won on debut, so each arrives with an unbeaten record to protect.

Another unbeaten filly is LIBERTANGO, who is two from two after impressive victories at Leicester on debut and in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

She’ll be attempting to follow the same path as last year’s winner Venetian Sun, who also completed the Albany-Duchess Of Cambridge double.

The Albany form has already received several boosts. Runner-up Sun Goddess has since won a Group 2 at the Curragh, while 11th-placed Roxelina bolted up at Wolverhampton earlier this week.

Billy Loughnane keeps the ride and, with the Ascot form stacking up so well, Libertango looks capable of dancing her way to another big victory.

🥇 LIBERTANGO
🥈 SENORITA BONITA
🥉 RUBY MOON

15:00 NEWMARKET (JULY) Betway Trophy (Heritage Handicap) (GBBplus Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 1m6f ITV

I’ve been banging the drum for the form of an Ascot handicap run in early May for a while now—both here and on the Final Furlong Podcast—and it just keeps producing winners.

The third, Opportunity, won the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot, while sixth-placed Valedictory lines up again here.

Fourth home Too Soon has since scored at Epsom, and even the 11th, In The Breeze, and 13th, Boatswain, have both gone on to win.

The horse that came out on top that day, though, was WINE DARK SEA, and he’s followed up in emphatic fashion.

He absolutely bolted up at Carlisle at the end of last month, winning by 13 lengths, yet has been raised only 6lb.

He carried 10st 1lb in that Class 4 contest but, despite stepping back up in grade here, has just 8st 12lb to shoulder.

The only slight concern is the step up from 1m3f to 1m6f, but judging by the way he finished last time, stamina certainly doesn’t look like it’ll be an issue.

Wine Dark Sea is taken to sail home again, with Valedictory and last year’s winner Oneforthegutter looking the most likely to chase him home.

🥇 WINE DARK SEA
🥈 VALEDICTORY
🥉 GOBLET OF FIRE

15:35 NEWMARKET (JULY) Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Falmouth Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV

Porta Fortuna completed the Coronation Stakes-Falmouth Stakes double last season, and PRECISE can follow suit.

This year’s Irish 1,000 Guineas winner showed plenty of determination when holding off Touleen in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, and this looks a slightly easier assignment.

Blue Bolt was hugely impressive when winning the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Ascot, with Jancis finishing second.

Jancis is 3lb better off this time, but both older mares still have to concede 9lb to Precise, and I think that weight allowance could prove decisive. Blue Bolt is rated 115, the same as the selection.

Of the others, Donnacha O’Brien’s Balantina finished just three-and-a-half lengths behind Precise when fifth at Ascot and could get a little closer this time, especially with the second, third and fourth from that race not lining up.

Overall, though, I’m happy to side with Precise, who can give Aidan O’Brien a third Falmouth Stakes success.

🥇 PRECISE
🥈 BLUE BOLT
🥉 BALANTINA
