After enduring another bruising day yesterday,
I'm keen to hit the back of the net today and I think I have four good chances
of doing so. First up is SACRED who
I was keen on in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. She just got outgunned that day
from Wesley Ward's flying filly, Campanelle and in my view she was a touch
green in the finish. I'm hoping she would have learnt plenty from that and the
step up to 6f should suit I think. This is a tough race but she has the
standout form and looks the least exposed.
Listening
to Oisin Murphy's comments regarding Bonnyrigg, I find it hard to back against
him but I've seen these good things turned over before, especially here at
York, so I'm going to try and find one against him. BASILCATA impressed me the last day when battling back over 6f to
beat a capable field. The step back up to 7f today should suit and we know
these Mark Johnston's two year olds not only improve with racing but they are
also on your side and run their hearts out so I think she should be in the
three here.
Down at Chester,
all eyes will be on the weather and the going updates to see how much rain has
got into the ground. There could be a few withdrawals throughout the day but
one horse who should be lining up is REVICH
who really impressed me last week when winning here at Chester. He won last
week from an uncompromising position which is what impressed me and he did it
very well in the end. A 5lb penalty shouldn't be enough to stop him from
following up, providing luck in running from a low draw.
The step up to 2m
on rain softened ground should really suit FUTURE
INVESTMENT who has looked well handicapped for a long time now. He has
performed admirably over shorter trips in good races in the past and now looks
ready for this step up in trip. He has plenty of weight to carry and isn't
helped by the draw but over 2 miles I hope Harry Bentley can weave a passage
through and deliver a deserved success.
