It is a belting day of racing today with the
Ebor meeting kicking off and a couple of good cards elsewhere. I will have my
syndicate manager's hat on at 2.35 as Memphis Bleek runs at Stratford and
although we think he should run a nice race, his current price is pretty
ridiculous with all things considered and it optimizes bookmakers today who
simply copy each other's odds and don't take a bet over £20.
My
three selections run at York and I'm kicking it off with KAMEKO in the Juddmonte International. I think he is tailor made
for this race and have said for a long time he is almost the exact replica of
Roaring Lion. He destroyed the field in this race when he won it and although I
can't guarantee Kameko is going to do that, I do think he has an outstanding
chance. I'm not convinced with Ghaiyaath and I certainly wouldn't advise anyone
backing him at such a short price. Magical is obviously classy but is better
over further and I think Kameko's turn of foot could prove crucial. 9/2 is a
very fair price and after a luckless run last time out, I think he is due a
slice of good fortune.
The
3.45 is as good a staying handicap as I have seen and I do like a few of these
but I'm taking a chance on EDDYSTONE
ROCK at a bigger price. I fancied him at Ascot a few weeks ago but he ran
as if that was a prep run for a next time out target. He has fallen to a mark
where he is dangerous from and seems to have built up an affiliation with the
Knavesmire with 2 wins from 3 runs. I think he could give each way backers a
good run for their money.
The
final tip is slightly speculative. If it hammers down at York then OUR LITTLE PONY has a right chance in
the 4.20. However, the rain isn't guaranteed to come down fast enough, if at
all so I add a note of caution with this selection. If it does rain though, I
really fancy her to wear them down late on in her usual manner. She travels
into her races so well and her ability to handle the softer surface hands her a
huge advantage over some of her rivals. Watch this space.
