A
decent evening card at Kempton catches my eye and I will probably be investing
into a couple of horses. First up is Michael Bell's YOUTHFUL who won a shade cosy at Leicester last time. The
handicapper has put him up 5lbs for that which is fair enough I guess but I
think he could well be up to going in again. A wide draw will make things
harder but he gets maximum assistance from the saddle in the shape of William
Buick. A bad injury has hindered his career to date but he now looks set to
make up for lost time and I think he will take a bit of beating here.
I'm not
too sure how strong the Golden Gates handicap form is from the Royal meeting as
it has been sending out mixed messages so far but I do think CEPHEUS is handicapped to run well
tonight. His three year old allowance makes him jump off the page at me and he
did run a tidy race at Ascot last time in all fairness. Being by Sea The Stars,
he is bred to relish this step up in trip and his debut performance at
Newmarket last year still lives long in my memory. This looks an ideal
opportunity for him to get his career back on track and I hope he can take a
bit of beating.
