There have been a large number of entries for the meetings at Newcastle and Kempton, when racing resume in the UK next week.
Newcastle has the honour of hosting the first meeting back after the enforced coronavirus shutdown and it has attracted 369 entries, while the nine-race card at Kempton on Tuesday saw 454 runners entered.
It's being seen as a major boost to the racing industry that so many trainers, jockeys and other connections are supporting the early meetings back before the runners will be finalised and it's hoped racing can get back on its feet quickly – albeit without spectators.
Of the entries for the all-weather track on the second day, 328 were made for the five maiden races, including 97 for a three-year-old event over a mile, and the rest were spread out across four handicaps over different distances.
John Gosden, who was the leading trainer on the track at Kempton last year with 19 winners from 77 runners, has 13 entries to his name.
The restart sees eight races being staged in the north east on Monday, while there is a second day at Newcastle on Tuesday, alongside the Kempton card, which has attracted a further 265 entries.
