Trainer Ruth Carr says she will wait until the beginning of May to make a decision on when her horses will return to training.
When the decision was made to suspend racing at the end of last month and the UK was put into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, Carr decided to scrap training for her entire stable until further notice.
On Thursday, the government announced that lockdown measures will stay in place for at least another three weeks, while the BHA also extended the suspension of racing until it is safe to resume.
Everything is up in the air for when racing will return and Carr, who trains the likes of Katheefa, Bobby Joe Leg and Highland Acclaim among others, says there is no point making a decision on a possible return to training for her horses right now.
“Rightly or wrongly, we took the decision to take them all out of training at the end of last month,” she was quoted as saying by the Northern Echo. “They're not young horses, they weren't learning anything so there didn't seem much point in putting more mileage on them in training.
“They're having three feeds a day, they're turned out about 7.30am and brought back in around 4pm. We've plenty of land here and they're pretty active while they're out in their herds.
“We'll leave it until probably the beginning of May and see how things are looking before making any decisions.”
