De Bromhead to monitor Irish conditions

Trainer Henry de Bromhead says he will be keeping a close eye on the ground conditions ahead of next weekend's trip.

De Bromhead's charge Honeysuckle, who will go for either the OLBG Mares' Hurdle or Challenge Trophy at the , is all set to run in next weekend's PCI Irish as the brilliant mare aims to extend her unbeaten record under Rules.

The six-year-old's latest victory came in the Grade 1 Hatton's Grace Hurdle at in December, where she finished a comfortable nine lengths clear of ' Bacardys.

Honeysuckle will be dropping down to two miles for the Leopardstown meeting but De Bromhead is keeping his fingers crossed the current ground conditions don't change as this could force a change in plans.

Asked if he would be concerned about a drying surface for any of his next weekend, he added: “You'd have to be worried about ground, because it seems to be changing. We'll keep an eye on all of that and see.

“We'll see how we get on, and then we'll digest the rest of the season. We'll try and get to next Saturday first, and see from there.”
