Connections are hoping Faugheen can dazzle in the Ryanair Hurdle on Friday as they look to build momentum ahead of a trip Cheltenham.
The nine-year-old made a winning return to action after almost two years out through injury in November in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown.
Faugheen heads to Leopardstown on Friday for the Ryanair Hurdle and connections are expecting another big performance to add to his 12 career victories over hurdles.
Patrick Mullins, the son and assistant of trainer Willie, believes Faugheen is more than capable of leading the field again on Friday as they look to take another positive step towards the Cheltenham Festival in March.
“All is good with Faugheen and he came out of Punchestown very well,? Mullins said. “He was ready to go at Punchestown and, like we said before, we didn't give him a very long summer break.
“We just want to get him to Cheltenham in one piece and if he did what he did at Punchestown we would be very happy.
“He went well around Leopardstown before and he probably put up one of his best ever performances at the track when he won the Irish Champion Hurdle there.
“It looks a good opportunity for him and hopefully he will take another step down the road towards Cheltenham.”
