Paul Hanagan believes Maggies Angel can handle the step up to Listed company at York next week after shining on her debut at Ripon.
The two-time champion jockey on the flat is relishing his return to the Knavesmire, where he will be chasing a fourth title as leading rider at next week's Dante Festival.
And the Warrington-born rider, now back on Richard Fahey's team, believes he has a real chance to scoop some of the £1.2million prize-money on offer with a number of interesting runners from the Musley Bank yard likely to be in contention.
He told the Yorkshire Post: “It's six years since I was last leading jockey at York and title number four is certainly a target. It's early days in terms of running plans for next week.
“However, Maggies Angel is under serious consideration for the first Listed race for two year old fillies, the Langleys Solicitors EBF Marygate, next Friday.
“She won on her debut at Ripon for me, coming on to York will be a step up for her but she made a great start.”
Maggies Angel, the first foal of a winning sprinter, won at 2/1 on that Ripon debut in a class five five-furlong sprint.
