Churchill ready for Guineas battle – O’Brien

Aidan O'Brien says he has no concerns over ante-post favourite Churchill ahead of his return in the this weekend.

The Galileo colt will be making his first competitive outing in 210 days at after not heading for the stalls since emerging victorious at the same track in the Dewhurst Stakes.

The three-year-old's victory capped a very impressive debut season, with Churchill coming out on top in five of his six outings.

Churchill is well fancied to add to his list of achievements in the 2000 Guineas on Saturday and O'Brien says he has no concerns over his charge being a little rusty.

He told the Telegraph: “He seems to be fine. Everything has gone well. He was a very mature two-year-old, big and strong with plenty of scope. I've been very happy with him over the .

“We think he is well ready to start. I'm very happy with him at the moment.”

Churchill will line up against just nine rivals at Newmarket, with Al Wukair and Barney Roy likely to provide the only serious competition.
