Eminent growing in confidence – Meade

Trainer Martyn Meade believes Eminent is growing in confidence as he prepares for a tilt at Saturday's Qipco 2,000 Guineas.

The unbeaten three-year-old was last seen in the Bet365 Craven Stakes Group 3 event at on April 20 and he claimed a second successive victory.

Eminent?s rating has shot up for this weekend?s return to Newmarket in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas Stakes and Meade is hoping to extend the winning run.

Meade believes there is still room for improvement but insists he has been delighted with the performances to date.

“He's been in great form since the Craven and did his last bit of work on Saturday, when he went six furlongs under his regular work-rider with an old handicapper of mine and he did everything I wanted him to,? Meade said.

“He's going to improve again. In handicapping terms, he must have improved a couple of stone from his maiden to the Craven [29lb on Post Ratings], and he's a different-looking horse now, which is exactly what I wanted to happen.

“I knew he'd need the run in the Craven and we weren't too bullish about him winning, but he's come back now and it's just put that little bit of polish on him.

“He'll be a better horse going into the Guineas than he was going to the Craven and I think he can win, although whether he can beat Churchill I don't know.”
