Slow and steady the plan for Tocco D’Amore

Dermot Weld will not rush Tocco D'Amore back into race action despite the filly making a winning start to her career at .

The three-year-old beat some highly-fancied colts on her debut in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden earlier this month and she holds entries in both Investec at Downs and the Irish equivalent.

The Blue Wind Stakes at the next month is expected to be the Raven's Pass filly's next port of call, but Kris Weld, son and assistant to trainer Dermot, insists they will not rush the horse, as they aim to nurture her growing potential.

“We're not in any great rush with Tocco D'Amore – she has a lot of entries and is in everything,” Kris Weld said. “A filly as valuable as her, you hope she might live up to some of her pedigree – it's never guaranteed.

“We haven't decided what route we're going with her, but we were thrilled to win with her at Naas. We weren't surprised she won against the colts – nobody listened to us so that's not our problem.”
