Halford considering Rehana Guineas shot

Mick Halford concedes Rehana's decent return at has led to him considering a run in the 1000 Guineas.

The three-year-old looked strong as she came home third to Aidan O'Brien's Hydrangea in a Trial Stakes to further supplement the hype that has followed her since defeating Fillies' Mile winner and Guineas favourite Rhododendron to her maiden last June.

Saturday's showing demonstrated that the daughter of Dark Angel remains a dangerous customer and with him confident that she will be able to benefit from the firmer ground, Halford admits next month's 1000 Guineas could be an option.

He said: “I was very happy with her. She ran well from a wide draw and would appreciate even quicker ground than it was on the day.

“The English Guineas is under consideration. She's also in the Irish Guineas and the Athasi Stakes, so we've got a few options.

“We'll keep an eye on the weather and the ground and see which way we go.”
