O’Brien left with Cougar Mountain for Newmarket race

Aidan O’Brien has pulled Long Island Sound out of the Shadwell Joel Stakes at Newmarket on Friday but Cougar Mountain remains.

The trainer now only has five-year-old Cougar Mountain in the race at the final declaration stage for Friday’s contest after deciding Long Island Sound should be withdrawn a few days before.

Six entries remain with David O’Meara having dual Group One winner Amazing Maria and Custom Cut, who won the race in 2014 and finished as runner-up to Time Test 12 months ago, on the list.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Forge, the Hugo Palmer-trained Gifted Master and Nathra from John Gosden’s stable are the other three runners.
