Mark Johnston continues to plunder plenty of cash from Ayr's usual Monday afternoon meeting and can enjoy yet further success with his unbeaten colt Permian (2.00) under Joe Fanning in the opener. The well-bred son of Teofilo caused something of an upset last month at Kempton, winning at 8/1 last month on debut, and looks to have been well-placed to follow-up and maintain his unbeaten record en-route to a step up in grade thereafter.
A field of seven go to post for the feature 1m 5f Handicap where David O'Meara's in-form Ingleby Hollow (4.10) is a confident selection to score for the third time this term. The son of Beat Hollow landed a touch over course and distance earlier in the month and followed-up eight days later under a penalty when stepped up in trip to two miles at Thirsk. He was unfortunate to bump into one when bidding to complete the hat-trick last week at Redcar and remains well-handicapped to go in again under regular partner Danny Tudhope.
Another that remains in good nick is Ian Jardine's Eastern Dragon (4.40) who was an impressive winner at the track earlier in the month. The 6-y-o bolted-up when well punted for a course and distance handicap and finished third when stepped up in trip to nine furlongs last Monday. He should be suited by the drop back in trip and can reward each-way support under Gary Whillians, who off-sets 5lb of the 6lb rise at the weights.
The forecast overnight rain should see the ground at Windsor be more good-to-soft than good; which should see Richard Hannon's well-bred Pivotal filly Company (6.25) go close to shedding the maiden tag under Pat Dobbs. The selection finished a promising third last month on debut at Newbury, staying on strongly when the penny dropped in the closing stages, and gets the not to make swift amends dropping down in grade.
Clive Cox's Inclination must go close in her bid to complete the four-timer in the Fillies' Handicap, however at a price it could be worth taking a chance on Symposium (7.00) for the team of William Haggas and Andrea Atzeni. The selection impressed when shedding the maiden tag last term at Wolverhampton and has progressed on both starts since returning from an absence of almost 200 days; finishing fourth on her seasonal debut and third on ground softer than ideal last time out at Chester. The handicapper has dropped her a bound for that effort and is well-drawn to capitalise from a revised mark of 76.
The feature ten furlong handicap looks a competitive affair with Banish and Rotherwick both progressive after runner-up efforts last time out but Prendergast Hill (8.00) looked very smart when quickening-up to win a course and distance handicap two weeks ago and should follow-up under Jim Crowley. The gelding had previously been well-punted for a trio of handicaps at Windsor, Wetherby and Kempton and should go in again from just a 2lb rise at the weights.
