Elite Army being lined up for Melbourne Cup

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor believes Elite Army could be a perfect horse.

The -based handler admitted the five-year-old turned in a disappointing run when finishing way off the pace in the Princess of Wales's Stakes last week but previous form suggests a tilt at the famous handicap Down Under at Flemington on November 1 is still a possibility.

The son of Authorized, who impressed when finishing second in the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal , is being lined up for the two-mile showpiece.

Bin Suroor said: “He needs to have a break now. We will bring him back, I would like to think, at the end of August.

“He always works really well and what happened (in the Princess of Wales's Stakes) was quite disappointing.

“He could go two miles and maybe at the end of the season we will take him to Australia for the Cup.”
