Second Step to try his luck overseas

Connections feel it is time for Second Step to move up to Group One company and may well send him abroad.

The four-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2014 campaign with a couple of victories and kicked off the current season with an impressive display to land Newmarket's Jockey Club Stakes on May 2.

And it was that success at Headquarters, beating Telescope close home in the Group Two, that has convinced trainer Luca Cumani that the son of Dalakhani would benefit from a run or two overseas.

France is an option but the Newmarket handler is also keen to see how his stable star would get on across the Atlantic.

“Looking forward we have a couple of options for him, the most likely being the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, which amongst the Group One races at a mile and a half, is probably the least difficult to win from a historical perspective and the Canadian International later in the year is another option,” he told www.lucacumani.com.

“Woodbine is amongst the most galloping of the North American turf tracks and the ground is usually on the easy side as well – two factors which would play to his strengths.”
