It’s fairly well known that horses making their handicap debut have one of the best chances to win a race in their entire careers.
This is because of the nature of the handicap system, and trainers’ due diligence in working that to their horses’ and owners’ advantage.
Whatever you may think about that, such runners appear daily at this time of year, and we as punters need to be across the positives and negatives – or pass all such races.
Handicap Debutants Guide by Dave Renham
Happily, Dave Renham has got stuck in to flat race handicap debutants (3yo+) in this week’s article.
And even more happily, he’s found lots of general angles to note as well as specific trainer plays.
There were a good few things about which I wasn’t aware in this one!
Stay lucky!
