Friday

Keeneland 6.55 – Noir a Force to be reckoned with

I’m strongly against the favourite, Libertango, here.

Having never raced around a bend she will have to prove she handles that whilst also coping with a chance of tactics as connections have already said they won’t be dropping her out like they usually do.

She has to overcome those two massive worries whilst not having her usual jockey, Billy Loughnane, in the saddle.

All that considered I think she’s a good lay at 11/8 and I’m putting two up to beat her.

First is FORCE NOIR who comes here a little underrated after having a quiet Summer between a promising Spring and Autumn.

His run last time out in the Middle Park is good form and if in a similar mood wil certainly outrun odds of 12/1.

At a slightly bigger price, I think MUSSAB could continue his upward trajectory as he threatens to be suited by the pacey 5.5f.

He looks all speed and his win in the Cornwallis last time out is solid form so dismiss him at your peril.

Keeneland 8.15 – Graffard to come out on top in clash of the Fillies

Sun Goddess vs AMUSINGLY looks to be one of the clashes of the weekend and I’m backing the latter to come out on top.

She impressed me no end when beating the boys in Longchamp last time out.

She beat all the right horses and the manner in which she did it was mega impressive.

Her pace and finishing kick will be a lethal asset here and I think she might just have too much for the strong staying Sun Goddess.

Keeneland 8.55 – American to write his own History

I don’t usually get too involved in the Dirt but when looking into this race I couldn’t work out why AMERICAN HISTORY is such a big price.

An impressive debut win was followed by an even more impressive victory when everything seemed to go wrong.

He will have to be sharper at the gates tonight but at the prices he looks a good bet to me.

Keeneland 9.35 – Haffner looks primed for Juvenile Turf

I was surprised Aidan O’Brien declared so many for this race as it looks a classic of a renewal.

I’ve been sweet of HAFFNER for this since his win at York when O’Brien suggested he may be perfectly suited by this race and I agree.

His speed and stamina are useful assets to have here and a low draw suggest Lady Luck is on his side also.

I can’t see him out of the 3 and expect a positive showing.

Keeneland 5.48 – Bacio to announce himself as World’s Fastest

Wesley Ward knows a fast horse when he sees one and it appears he has unearthed another speedball in the shape of BACIO.

He has labelled this horse as the fastest in the world and it’s hard to deny that.

His win at Ascot was impressive albeit in a handicap but the Nunthorpe victory, I felt, was something special.

To go that quick and sustain the finishing kick on that ground against a high quality field was some demonstration of his ability.

He has been my NAP of the meeting since then.

He is running in his own backyard where he works every day and will undoubtedly be primed for this so I find it hard to find any reason why he won’t win. Banker!

Keeneland 8.20 – Appleby hoping for successful closing Speech

The stage is set for NOTABLE SPEECH to bow out on a high and retain his Breeders Cup Mile crown. A horse who appears to be tailor made for the Breeders Cup mile test.

A deadly change of pace and ability to catapult himself off a bend makes him a formidable opponent in any edition of this race.

He can get himself into trouble given his running style but a middle of the road draw should give William Buick plenty of options to avoid such issues.

I hope he can capitalise and bow out on a high.

Keeneland 9.36 – Godolphin outsider could cause upset

I thought it was interesting that Charlie Appleby only sends two runners over to Keeneland this weekend and with one priced up at even money I don’t think the other should be 25/1.

EL CORDOBES has developed a solid profile and has plenty of form in similar races including a 3rd in this race last year.

Although his British form may not be up to scratch, if we learnt anything from last year’s edition it’s that the ability to handle these American tracks is more important than official ratings.

He will come on a bundle for a recent outing at Belmont and I think he offers plenty of value at 25/1 for a team who could be on a high after Notable Speech runs in the Mile.
