Title Race Update: Oisin Murphy heads to Killarney for six Tuesday rides, as Loughnane stays at home

Killarney Races Oisin Murphy

Champion jockey Oisin Murphy has a packed evening ahead on Tuesday (14th July), with six rides booked at his home track Killarney in Ireland – giving title rival Billy Loughnane a chance to get back in the lead.

Murphy heads into the day with a narrow one-win advantage over Billy Loughnane in the championship standings – but any Ireland wins today for Oisin Murphy won’t count towards the British Jockeys’ Title race.

The four-time British champion has ridden 60 winners. While Loughnane sits just behind on 59, ensuring every ride could prove crucial in the battle for the title.

Murphy’s Killarney schedule begins in the 5:09pm Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, where he partners ex-US trained Celtic Motif, who is now with Joseph O’Brien.

He is then aboard Tyraxes in the 5:40pm Hotel Killarney Maiden, before teaming up with Zheleznaya Dama in the 6:10pm Irish Examiner Handicap.

His busy evening continues with Elusive Duke in the 6:40pm Killarney Plaza Hotel & Spa Handicap. Followed by Saga Gaga in the 7:10pm Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.

Murphy’s final ride on the card comes aboard Satono Chevalier in the 7:40pm Rose Hotel Handicap.

Title Rival Billy Loughnane In Action at Wolverhampton

While Murphy will be chasing winners in County Kerry, his nearest championship rival Billy Loughnane will also be in action – but at home at Wolverhampton.

Billy Loughnane has a full book of rides at Wolves on Tuesday evening and will be looking to overturn the one-win deficit before the day is out.

With just a single victory separating the pair, Tuesday’s fixtures at Killarney and Wolverhampton could have a significant bearing on the championship race, as two of Britain’s leading jockeys continue to trade blows in what is developing into a fascinating title contest.

Murphy Heads To Killarney In Red-Hot Form

Oisin Murphy arrives at Killarney in red-hot form after riding a brilliant five-timer at Windsor on Monday (13th July).

The four-time champion jockey enjoyed a memorable evening. Steering home five winners on the card to boost his tally in the jockeys’ championship and edge ahead of Billy Loughnane in the standings.

The remarkable haul underlined Murphy’s excellent recent form and provided the perfect springboard as he heads into another busy day of racing with six booked rides at Killarney.
