NO NAMES TILL THE GONGS GO: Jonathan Hobbs wants to keep the suspense as the top contenders line up

NEXT month we will crown a new Greyhound of the Year, the sport’s highest accolade. And even though I want to name him given he’s probably the biggest certainty since Westmead Hawk, I can’t bring myself to do it.
Ridiculous I know, but absolutely true. Old habits die hard and keeping some sort of suspense and doubt for the annual awards is ingrained in me now.
I’ve helped present the awards for a few years now - and hope to for many years to come. It’s been an honour - it still is - and while I do get to know the category winners i.e. sprinter of the year, marathon performer of the year etc, ...
