Welcome to Racing Ahead – July 2025 edition

AFTER a steady build-up, the sun rose high over summer racing at Royal Ascot with huge crowds enjoying superb action in glorious weather.
Reputations were lifted and some dented on the track in a flurry of truly top class racing.
It was great to see Trawlerman and William Buick crown a brilliant Royal meeting for John and Thady Gosden with victory in the Ascot Gold Cup – and the news for this month is that he is set to meet Ballydoyle’s Illinois in a keenly-anticipated stayers’ rematch at Goodwood.
