SNOW CAN’T KEEP HORSES OFF THE HEATH

David Youngman pays tribute to the hard work that keeps gallops open in wintry conditions

HERE at Newmarket we experienced very heavy frosts and snowy conditions recently but what a brilliant job the Heathmen did once again keeping all the horse walks gritted and the all-weather gallops harrowed so they could be used by our trainers. Colin Driver is in charge on Bury side and does a wonderful job along with the rest of his team. Martin Gear is also a member of the squad on that side of town, Martin was a valued member of the Stoute yard but left a few years ago to have a change of job...
