Three of the leading mid-season Group 2 two-year-old races attracted just 13 runners between them, the July Stakes and Prix Robert Papin only had three runners in each, whilst seven contested in the Railway Stakes.
The three races were run in a 10-day period from July 9 to 19, three weeks after the 21-runner Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Railway Stakes run later this year than in previous years.
