Simon Nott shares more of his tales from the other side of the counter

As always it was a joy to be at Newton Abbot, what better way to spend a glorious Wednesday in May.
The card boasted seven races and all bar the first looked very competitive albeit with smallish fields. The weather was probably too glorious for the best possible turnout, overcast summer days tend to attract the holidaymakers who’d possibly otherwise be on the beach.
That a given, the crowd appeared to be made up of racing aficionados as opposed to the casual curious.
