Racing people are more used to uncertainty than most – the sport is built on it after all.
But when it is dodgy out there in a very troubled world, what better way of getting away from it all, for a while at least, than in the fresh air at the track.
Bumper crowds at Cheltenham and Aintree were testament to the joys – and importance – of our great sport.
Now the Flat is poised to unleash new generations of classy speedsters and bring summer excitement to the boil.
George Boughey and Bow Echo are strong fancies to bag Guineas honours for the UK after the Skeltons have restored national pride at the top of the jumps championships.
And the action will only get hotter as summer kicks on. It might be the best of times and the worst of times, but look at the trainers and horses in Meydan for the super-rich desert highlight, Rolf Johnson was there when racing battalions flew in as others fled the war zone – that must say something about love of the sport.
Well, we have another great issue to feed readers’ appetite for track action, packed with betting information, top tips, expert insights and colourful observation, so please read on – and thank you for your support as we try to keep racing flags flying high.
