Bens Day 2 Aintree TIPS

Ben Morgan

I thought GARRY CLERMONT looked primed to run a big race at Cheltenham only for the ground to go against him late in the day. Jonjo O’Neill’s charge brings some good form into this race and the step up in trip looks sure to suit now faced with a better surface. It’s a tricky race but he is no 25/1 shot.

Similar comments apply to SCEAU ROYAL who is a filthy big price for a horse who is so consistent. The favourite looks solid but you should never be scared of one horse and I think this lad can give him a run for his money. Alan King has been wanting to try this trip for a while now and I think it might just bring about some improvement. The good ground will be key to his chance but his accurate jumping will also aid his cause and he should reward each way backers.

I was so keen on STAG HORN at Cheltenham but he bombed out which was unfortunate. I’m happy to forgive that effort as it was too bad to be true and I hope the switch to this flat, pacey track will play to his strengths. This doesn’t look like an overly strong renewal so I’m hoping Nick Scholfield will make all and record a Grade 1 success for Archie Watson.

Aintree 1.45 – Garry Clermont

Aintree 3.30 – Sceau Royal

Aintree 4.40 – Stag Horn
