I would have loved another place on offer in the 4.20 at Haydock this afternoon as I think STAR SHIELD is a stonking each way punt . His Haydock record speaks for itself and although his form figures suggest he isn't one to rely on, I do think a big run is incoming today. He likes to be held up off a strong pace so with Jamie Spencer booked and a field blessed with free going front runners I'd like to think he will have no excuses today.
An opening mark of 86 may underestimate FIREWORKS at Newmarket today and it would be brilliant if he could deliver some. His qualifying runs have all worked out well, in particular the Newmarket run on his second start behind Derab. His run at Beverley last time was more impressive than most would have you think as he made up a lot of ground on a track which isn't the easiest to come from behind on. He looked to be screaming for a step up in trip that day which he gets here and anything over 5/2 looks a good price.
