I would have liked to put up First Impression today at Ayr but the severe lack of rain has left me with no option but to leave him out. The firm ground should suit NORTHERN EXPRESS on the other hand and I expect him to leave his Ascot run behind him here. He missed the break badly that day and wasn't suited by the slow pace but the stiff nature of this course should suit him well. His form earlier in the season is pretty good and although he doesn't look the most reliable on paper I don't think he has had his conditions all that often so he will definitely be one to keep on side today.
